Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ledzekuku Constituency and Former Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye appointed as Chief Executive Officer for National Health Insurance Authority.
In pursuant to Section 14 (1) of the National Health Insurance Act, 2012 (Act 852), the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Dr. Okoe-Boye as the NHIA boss.
The letter, which was signed by Chief Staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare stated, that Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye’s appointment takes effect from May 3, 2022.
It further asked the appointee, Dr. Okoe-Boye to “indicate his acceptance or otherwise of this appointment within fourteen (14) days of the receipt of the letter, dated 21st April, 2022.
Reacting to the appointment, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye expressed: “In His own time, He makes all things beautiful. I thank God Almighty for remembering me. I remain eternally grateful to His Excellency, President Akufo-Addo for doing me this honor. Finally I would like to thank all of you for your love, well wishes and prayers. To God be the glory, a great thing he has done.”
This means that, if he accepts the appointment, he takes over from Dr. Lydia Dsane-Selby as Chief Executive of NHIA, who will be responsible for running the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
