E-Levy Will Not Destroy Your Business – Ursula Owusu Tells MoMo Operators

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West asks MoMo merchants to support the government as she says the E-Levy won’t destroy their business.


The lawmaker said this during the National Town Hall Meeting held by the government on Thursday, January 27, 2022 on the controversial E-Levy.

The Ablekuma West MP said, “I can say confidently to the MoMo operators that we’re working to grow your business and not destroy it.”


She asks that the MoMo operators work with the them to get the electronic transaction tax passed.

“Work with us to get this tax passed as well”. “The result that we got from the Communication Services Tax, which clearly didn’t kill the industry, will also be seen after this levy is put into place”, she added.

She said with the support of the merchants, it is important to pass the E-Levy as ghana strives to become cash-less society.

“With all of us working together “digital financial services become the norm as we strive to become a cash-less society”.
